Specialized Pastoral Care
The Pastoral Care ministry and Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE, Inc.) programs at Children's Medical Center offer unique spiritual support to ill children and their families by training professional and volunteer chaplains with a special focus on child- and family-centered pastoral care. The basis of training for this approach is facilitated through three complementary theoretical sources--James W. Fowler's work on faith development, Jerome W. Berryman's work on theological or sacred play and Edwin H. Friedman's writing in family system's theory.
The atmosphere at Children's can provide a rich and unique learning experience for those interested in a clinical pastoral education program. If you are a seminary student, clergy or layperson, please consider the opportunities available at Children's.
