For hospitalized children, doing activities that help them feel comfortable in the hospital environment is important. The art program at Children’s offers a sense of normalization while children are here, providing social, emotional and psychosocial support for patients and their families.
Part of the Child Life department, the program features an art studio — a calming and inspiring place that gives patients a chance to leave their hospital room to color, paint, make arts and crafts and let their imagination run wild. We welcome siblings, too.
When patients are not able to leave their room, we take art to them, allowing them to create a masterpiece at the bedside. Patients can keep their works of art, or if they’d like, they may donate it to the hospital for displaying in one of three patient art galleries.
