November 30, 2010
At its annual Spring meeting and brunch May 17, The Women’s Auxiliary to Children’s Medical Center announced a $675,000 gift to Children’s to support several high-need areas of the hospital. Auxiliary President Kim LeMay presented the check to the president of Children’s Medical Center Foundation, Pete Kline.
A generous $525,000 of the Auxiliary’s gift will be applied to the Mabee Challenge Grant which benefits the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders outpatient clinic, day hospital and pharmacy. The Auxiliary’s gifts will also help supply other critically needed funds for the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Children’s Art Therapy Program, Women’s Auxiliary Scholarship Fund for nursing and allied health students and Children’s Medical Center Legacy.
Since its inception in 1962, The Women’s Auxiliary to Children’s Medical Center has gifted more than $15 million to Children’s and has provided volunteer support to the hospital.
This year’s fundraisers included a family night at Six Flags, holiday card sales, Breakfast With Santa the morning of the Adolphus Christmas Parade, the inaugural “Sundaes on Sunday” November event at the American Girl store, and proceeds from the Children’s Corner gift shop.
