Jump Start Program for High School Graduates/Early College

About the JumpStart Program

Children's Medical Center is one of the first hospitals in Dallas to launch an innovative recruitment program, called the JumpStart Program, which is specially designed for high school graduates about to enter college.
The JumpStart Program was developed in 2000 to encourage high school graduates who have an interest in pursuing a career in health care. The focus of the program is to provide practical experience and exposure to a variety of health care areas while assisting students in defining their career goals.

The JumpStart Program has now expanded to include students who are in their first few years of college that want to pursue a career in health care.

The summer program lasts eight weeks, Monday thru Friday, beginning in June of each year. Each student will have the opportunity to work closely with department staff, attend educational lectures and tours, and participate in a community service event.

JumpStart students will be paid at the rate of $9/hour.
