About Child Advocacy

Children's Medical Center is an important advocate for children. This mission is accomplished through financial support, education, public affairs programs and the establishment of other child advocacy organizations. Here are just a few examples of Children's remarkable efforts:

  • Providing millions annually in uncompensated care
  • Sponsoring the Dallas CHIP Coalition to mobilize our community to help families of uninsured children apply for affordable health insurance through Children's Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) - For more information on affordable health insurance for children please call 211 or visit the CHIP Web site at www.chipmedicaid.org.
  • Fighting the epidemic of childhood obesity through our sponsorship of the Dallas Area Coalition to Prevent Childhood Obesity
  • Working to improve immunization rates of area children through collaboration with Immunize Kids! Dallas Area Partnership
  • Giving patients access to AIDS-Related Medical Services (ARMS), injury prevention information, the Referral and Evaluation of At-Risk Children (REACH) clinic, foster care and a clinic for low birth weight children
  • Establishing the Dallas-Area Safe Kids Coalition in 1994 to help prevent injury and childhood accidents, which are the No. 1 cause of death among young children
  • Supporting a strategic public affairs program dedicated to improving the health, education, safety and security of all children
  • Assisting the Injury Prevention Center of Greater Dallas, which collects statistical data that can be used in prevention programs and public service messages
