A Flavorful Summertime Treat
Just in time for the sweltering heat, this fresh dessert will cool you down after a day in the sun.

JELL-O® Gelatin, a dessert which originated more than 100 years ago, remains a tasty treat for kids today. The wiggly, bright-colored novelty calls for simple, quick preparation. By adding fresh fruit, an assortment of healthy recipes can be made from the versatile ingredient.
Today, JELL-O® is the world's most popular prepared dessert, selling more than 300 million boxes every year. With an array of fruit flavors to choose from, it contains no fat and just 80 calories per serving.
“The smooth, light texture appeals to kids and adding fruit increases the nutrient intake,” said Elyse Tyler, a registered dietitian and program manager for the Dean Foods LEAN Families Program at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. “Strawberries are a great source of potassium and vitamin C, making this recipe a healthy choice."

        JELL-O® Delight

  • 1 package (3 oz.) strawberry banana JELL-O® Gelatin
  • 1 ¼ cups boiling water
  • 1 package fresh strawberries
  • COOL WHIP LITE® topping

Dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Add strawberries and gently stir. Chill. After one hour, add whipped topping. Makes approximately 3 cups or 6 servings.

How to select and clean strawberries

  • Choose plump, firm strawberries that are a rich red color.
  • Look at the sides and bottom of the carton to be sure no mold is present.
  • Before eating, wash the berries in white vinegar to eliminate bacteria.
