The first liver transplant in Texas was performed at Children's in 1984. Since then, more than 450 liver transplants have been performed at the hospital.

In 2006, Texas' first pediatric liver-heart transplant was performed at Children's.

Program services include:

• Evaluation of potential transplant candidates
• Evaluation of potential living donors
• Transplantation of a deceased donor whole or split liver
• Continued care and management of transplant recipients
