The Gastroenterology service at Children's Medical Center provides care for children with digestive and nutritional disorders, including access to the very latest medications and treatments.

Our staff includes board-certified pediatric gastroenterologists who specialize in helping kids with gastro-intestinal problems, including:

  • Chronic vomiting
  • Chronic diarrhea
  • Gastrointestinal allergy
  • Inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis)
  • GI vascular malformation
  • Feeding disorders
  • Chronic abdominal pain

  • Intestinal failure/Short bowel syndrome
  • Pancreatic diseases
  • Liver diseases

Motility Center

The Center for Pediatric Gastrointestinal Motility handles bowel and aerodigestive disorders, including:

  • Severe, intractable constipation
  • Functional abdominal pain
  • Swallowing difficulties

Experienced transplant team

GI specialists from Children's were part of the team that performed the region's first intestinal transplant in 2006 and have participated in more than 400 liver transplants.

Intestinal failure program

The intestinal failure program cares for children with short bowel syndrome after surgery and provides treatment options, including a home nutrition service, bowel lengthening procedures and intestinal transplantation.
