Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders
At Children's Medical CenterThe oncology program at Children’s Medical Center remains one of the most active services in the hospital and continues to grow in patient number and complexity. The CCBD has invested time and resources to improve its efficiency both for oncology and hematology patients. The following are some recent initiatives aimed at improving the experience for our patients both in the outpatient and inpatients environments.
The majority of children treated for malignancies at the CCBD are treated according to national Children’s Oncology Group (COG) protocols. In addition, the CCBD is one of only 20 institutions worldwide in the COG approved by the National Cancer Institute to treat children on experimental Phase I/II new agent trials.
