Children's Medical Center has applied for the prestigious designation of Magnet hospital status from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The Magnet designation recognizes excellence in nursing services by a healthcare organization.
Appraisers from the ANCC will tour both Children's locations, with a site visit of the main campus in Dallas on Nov. 10 and 13 and at Children's Legacy on Nov. 11 and 12.
Part of the process of receiving Magnet designation is giving the public an opportunity to review the application documentation and submit comments if desired.
The Magnet documentation will be available for review by all Children's employees and the public beginning Tuesday, Sept. 30, at two locations. The first is in the Access Center (Room C4310) of the main hospital at 1935 Medical District Drive in Dallas. The second location is the Karahan Family Resources Center (L1275) in the lobby of Children's Medical Center Legacy hospital at 7601 Preston Road in Plano.
The documents are available for viewing 24 hours a day. Anyone may send comments by fax, email and direct mail. All telephone comments must be followed up in writing. All comments are confidential and, if you choose, may be anonymous, but they must be in writing. The deadline for comments is Thursday, Oct. 30.
