Children's recognized as a 'Best Place to Work'

Hospital named to Dallas Business Journal's Top 12 list

In its mission to make life better for children, Children's Medical Center Dallas also is making life better for employees. The hospital recently was honored by the Dallas Business Journal as a top 12 "Best Place to Work" in the large corporation division, which includes Metroplex-based companies with more than 500 employees.

The ranking is based on the responses of more than 800 Children's employees and medical/dental staff members who took the time in February to complete an online survey that asked questions across 10 different themes including team effectiveness, people, practices and trust. A list of the top-72 businesses recognized, including Children's, was published in March, and after further assessment of the survey results, final rankings were announced in the May 5-11 Dallas Business Journal.

"While we offer many attractive benefits to employees, we know that people come to work here because they are dedicated to caring for children," said James W. Herring, vice president of Human Resources at Children's. "Our employees not only take the mission to heart; they work hard each day to ensure that the care Children's provides is top-notch. Certainly, there is a great sense of pride at the end of each day in knowing that our employees have made a difference."

Also recognized in the Large Business category were: Baylor Health Care System; Carlson Restaurants Worldwide; The Children's Courtyard; Denton Regional Medical Center; Medical Center of Plano; Medical Edge Healthcare Group Inc.; Methodist Health System; Plano Independent School District; Service King Paint and Body L.P.; Texas Health Resources and UT Southwestern Medical Center.

The Best Places to Work in Dallas-Fort Worth list is selected and published every year by the Dallas Business Journal.
