It's important for your child to see friendly, familiar faces while in the hospital. That's why visitors are welcome throughout the day, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Evenings are the best time for extended family and friends to visit since patients usually are busy during the day with medical tests, procedures and visits from their doctors. General visitors should be at least 12 years old. Siblings who are younger than 12 may visit patient rooms in most cases, but they must first check in at the nurses station for a visitor's pass.
Healthy children have lots of questions, and Children's volunteers offer small group tours for youngsters in hopes of demystifying the hospital and dispelling their fears. If you would like to schedule a tour, please call the child life department at 214-456-6280.
Forget your toothbrush, looking for a magazine to read or a special treat for a loved one? Stop by the Children's Corner gift shop. Phone-in credit card orders are delivered to patient rooms. Visa, MasterCard and Discover are accepted. Call directly at 214-456-2160.
The gift shop is operated by the Women's Auxiliary, and proceeds benefit the hospital.
