Children's Medical Center Chip Moody Golf Classic

Over the years, the Children's Medical Center Chip Moody Golf Classic has been a wonderful way for members of our community and corporate sponsors to support our mission to make life better for children. Since its inception in 1988, the event comprised of an auction party, golf tournament and awards ceremony, has raised more than $2.2 million to fund programs that provide social and emotional support for seriously ill children. The 2007 Children’s Medical Center Chip Moody Golf Classic and the Children's Medical Center Auction Party raised more than $250,000.

Founding chairman Chip Moody, veteran WFAA television news anchor, established the Golf Classic as a fundraiser after he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease and experienced the struggle of living with a chronic illness. His concern for children and families who face similar battles led him to create the Chip Moody Child Care Fund and Endowment at Children’s. The proceeds from 2008 will be used to support Children's second pediatric hospital, Children's Medical Center Legacy in Plano. This hospital will open in the fall.
