Dr. Ilana Zeltzer, cardiac specialist at Children's, and Dr. Michael Day, director of Cardiology Outreach at Children's
Sudden cardiac death (SCD) in young athletes raises concerns among physicians, parents and school sports programs. Drs. Ilana Zeltzer and Michael Day will discuss the risks and etiologies of SCD and the importance of screening, prevention and education. Dr. Zeltzer specializes in pediatric cardiology, specifically in arrhythmias interventional electrophysiology, syncope, pacemakers and internal cardiac defibrillators. She earned her medical degree at New York University School of Medicine and completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at Mount Sinai Medical Center. She also completed fellowships in pediatric cardiology and electrophysiology at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Day is the director of Cardiology Outreach at Children's and works primarily out of the Legacy campus. Dr. Day received his medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical Center and completed his fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Children's Hospital Boston. In addition to evaluating and treating patients with congenital and acquired heart disease, Dr. Day also has advanced training in fetal echocardiography and is board certified in pediatric cardiology.

Dr. Alan Farrow-Gillespie, Medical Director of Pediatric Pain Management Services and Director of The Pediatric Pain Management Center at Children's
Dr. Farrow-Gillespie earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston and performed a pediatric anesthesia fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology and has subspecialty certification in pain medicine. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesia and Pain Management at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He also performs pediatric anesthesia as a staff anesthesiologist at Children's Medical Center Dallas.
