On Aug. 15, Children's Medical Center will host a seminar for school nurses at the Region 10 Educational Service Center. This conference will allow school nurses to increase their knowledge in the area of pathophysiology in children with T1DM. They will have the opportunity to learn about the ongoing clinical research studies related to T1DM in children. They will also learn coping strategies in dealing with children with diabetes, and learn the factors that contribute to a child's progression from pre-diabetes to diabetes.

Registration
The registration fee is $70 postmarked by August 8. We will not accept registration at the door.
Objectives
- Discuss ongoing clinical research studies and related pathophysiology in children with T1DM.
- Describe coping strategies in dealing with children with diabetes.
- Identify strategies to incorporate flexibility into the school-age child's meal plan.
- Identify screening and treatment for co-morbidities associated with TIDM such as celiac and thyroid disease.
- Identify the factors that contribute to a child's progression from pre-diabetes to diabetes.
