Emergency Department Nursing Shadow Program

Thank you for your interest in the Children's Emergency Department nursing shadow program.

The purpose of the shadow program is to provide potential nurse recruits an opportunity to explore a career as a pediatric emergency department nurse at Children's Medical Center. The program is an unpaid opportunity currently open to both adult and pediatric Emergency Department nurses and certified nurses seeking to pursue a career as pediatric Emergency Department nurse.

The job-shadow experience is an intense front-line observation period providing exposure to the Emergency Department workplace. The observer will shadow a clinical nurse and will under no circumstances provide care to a Children's patient.

Children's encourages all applicants to participate in this program for a chance to interact with staff, ask questions and to assess the work environment at one of the busiest emergency departments in the nation. To participate in the program, please complete an online application by selecting requisition #9644.

Upon receipt of your online application, you will be contacted by Human Resources to schedule a four-hour shadow session. All job-shadowing experiences must be pre-approved by a recruiter in Human Resources and the Emergency Department.
