Children's is the one hospital in North Texas with more than 50 outpatient clinics dealing exclusively with a variety of diseases and disorders among children. With the technological advances of less invasive procedures, ambulatory care has become a fast-growing arena for healthcare professionals. Our staff also teaches patient families self-care and health maintenance in a variety of areas, from radiology and speech pathology to psychiatry and clinical nutrition.
Children's is the one hospital with the largest pediatric intensive care unit in the nation with more than 60 beds. More than 2,000 children are admitted annually into the pediatric ICU at Children's, and the number is growing. You can develop a specialty or rotate among our services areas. Career enhancement opportunities in critical care services include continuing education, information services, ECMO and research.
The Emergency Department at Children's Medical Center has more than 100,000 patient encounters annually, with more than 14,000 of those requiring admission to the hospital for additional treatment. The ED at Children's is staffed 24-hours a day, 365 days a year by board-certified pediatric emergency medicine sub-specialists and clinical staff. It is the regional tertiary referral center for North Texas and the first pediatric hospital in Texas with a designated Level I trauma center.
Offering state-of-the-art equipment including a Philips monitoring unit and all-electronic charting (through EPIC), the ED offers patients the best comprehensive care available to children from birth to age 18.

Children's is the one hospital with 24 of the largest, most technologically advanced operating rooms available in pediatrics today. Our perioperative services team provides 24-hour support of all surgical services, including trauma. Children's also has built a solid reputation as a major center for pediatric organ transplants. The OR team consists of registered nurses, respiratory care practitioners, anesthesia technicians, operating room technicians and perioperative service assistants.
