Why should I choose a career at Children's?

Pediatrics is all we do. We're the only Dallas healthcare facility that deals exclusively with a variety of diseases and disorders among children from birth to age 18. A private, not-for-profit facility, our mission is to make life better for children.

What is the first step in applying to Children's?

Simply complete an online employment application. Please include your areas of interest, ranked in order of preference. In addition, please send an official transcript, two letters of reference from your clinical instructors and a resume.

What does the interview process involve?

A recruiter will review your application and resume and may call you to schedule an interview. During the interview process, you will learn more about our highly competitive salaries, internships and excellent benefits.

What licensure is required?

New nurse graduates must have a Texas license or Temporary Texas GN permit or meet the criteria for Nurse Licensure Compact before they can be employed at Children's. For more information on licensure, you may call the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners at 512-305-6809 or visit www.bne.state.tx.us. If certification or license is required for employment, you must provide proof of current status.

Does Children's have an orientation process?

Yes. Clinical staff go through an extensive clinical orientation in addition to general orientation.

Will I have a preceptor for support?

As a new nurse graduate, you will be assigned a clinical preceptor to assist you as you learn the hospital's policies and procedures. The preceptor is a valuable resource person who will help you become part of the Children's family.

What shifts are available?

Nurses at Children's can enjoy work/life balance through flexible scheduling handled by individual units. You will work either day/night rotations or straight shifts. Most full-time nurses work three 12-hour shifts. For non-nursing positions, various shifts are available to meet department needs.

How much do new nursing graduates earn?

Children's is proud to offer among the most competitive salaries in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. We are pleased to provide above-market shift differentials, including $6 per hour for weekends and $4.50 per hour for nights. Differentials are added to your base hourly rate of pay.

Yes, we offer extensive RN internship and LVN internship programs in a variety of areas.

As you ascend our customized clinical ladder for nurses and respiratory therapists, you will continually enjoy new challenges and increased compensation throughout your career.

We offer on-site continuing education and specialty certification for your career advancement. The human resources department also develops new courses based on the needs of a department or can assist in the design and preparation of course development for department in-services.
