At Children's Medical CenterJames J. Farnsworth Health Careers Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded each year to graduate students or college juniors or seniors who are planning a career in the pediatric healthcare profession. It is named in honor of Mr. James J. Farnsworth and was established from gifts to endowments made in tribute to Mr. Farnsworth by his friends and colleagues. Mr. Farnsworth served as president of Children's Medical Center Dallas for more than 30 years and was a fellow in the College of Healthcare Executives. A limited number of funds are available for up to five students each semester.
Students receiving a scholarship in one year will not automatically receive the scholarship the following year but may apply and, if performance is strong, may be extended.
Requirements
Preference will be given to students who are former patients at Children's; students who are current full-time or part-time employees; students whose parent is employed at Children's; students whose parent is a volunteer at Children's. Students must also meet the following criteria:
- Minimum Grade Point Average of 85 on a 100-point scale
- Interest in a Pediatric healthcare profession and acceptance into an accredited program

There are no service conditions attached to this scholarship.
Application Process
To apply candidates should submit the following information:
- Farnsworth Scholarship application (PDF)
- A one-page abstract stating why the student is pursuing a career in pediatrics
- Transcripts for most recent semester completed
- Two reference letters, one from an instructor
