Clinical Nutrition

The department of Clinical Nutrition at Children's provides medical nutrition therapy to a variety of patients in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. The department includes registered dietitians, nutrition technicians and formula lab technicians.

The department has 35 full-time employees, performs around 5,000 patient nutrition interventions per month and provides nearly 3,000 bottles of formula per month. Several clinical nutritionists on staff have advanced certifications, such as Certified Nutrition Support Dietitians, Board Certified Specialist in Pediatrics, Certificate in Child and Adolescent Weight Management, Certified Breastfeeding Educator and Certified Pharmacy Technician.

Clinical Nutrition monitors patients treated by Children's and addresses the nutritional needs of those who are deemed a nutrition risk. The department provides services seven days a week and provides on-call pager support 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Clinical Nutrition is divided into three main job roles, all providing medical nutrition therapy that is essential to treating diseases and preventing disease complication.
