Continued expansion at Children's Medical Center Dallas

Children's is well on its way to reach yet another construction milestone with the completion of a new 10-story hospital tower. Expected to open in 2009, Tower III will change the hospital's front entrance and the face of Children's to provide easier access to patients and families. The addition also will allow for expanded services to meet the needs of both current patients and those of the growing pediatric population in North Texas.

The new tower will provide easier access for patients, employees and medical/dental staff members. The new front entrance, which will face Motor Street, will separate regular patient traffic from emergency patient traffic and deliveries. In addition, the new space will allow for hospital centers such as cardiac and surgery to house all services on one floor. A new cafeteria will be housed on the lowest level with outdoor dining available for patient families, visitors, physicians and employees.

With 10 floors, the new tower will create space for growth of services to meet patient and pediatric population demands. The new space will allow for the expansion of the comprehensive pediatric heart center, which provides cardiac care exclusively for children, sometimes starting even before birth with diagnostic studies such as fetal echocardiography. The new space will allow all heart services to be located on the same floor, which will help provide increased convenience of patient families and visitors. The increased space also will allow for expanded NICU and CVICU capabilities.
